In this session we will discuss the different means to protect an Induction motor. We will provide means and methods to extend the life of motors connected to Variable Frequency Drives. This discussion will encompass items from Basic protection to advanced protection methods. The use of Fusing, Reactive Load Filters, dV/dT filters as well as proper cabling methods will be discussed.
Taught by: Michael Lore, Drive Specialist at Rumsey. Mike has 30+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, sales and project management. As a Navy Nuclear Electrician, he dealt with day to day issues of running and maintaining an Electrical Plant on the USS Bluefish. He moved into the private sector as a Field Service VFD Technician for Square D/Schneider Electric and then continued on as a Service Sales Engineer for the Square D Service division as well as a Switchgear Project Manager prior. Mike’s wide experience from VFD’s to Switchgear provides a varied knowledgebase he enjoys using to help customers.
