STOP IT! Regeneration & Braking Considerations for your VFD 7/28 WEBINAR

July 28, 2020 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Regeneration and braking decisions – real-world options and real-world solutions.  In this session we will discuss the effects and benefits of regeneration and braking and considerations for each.

Machines with high inertia motor loads can be challenging for VFD application. A resistive braking solution is a common option but often has sizing concerns. New opportunities exist where energy from the load can be recaptured and used elsewhere in the facility instead of inefficiently burning off as heat.

Specifically, we will:

  • Talk about what Regeneration is and how it affects the VFD.
  • Review Dynamic Braking solutions and how to size them.
  • Introduce the new Active Front End and Common Bus technologies.

Following this webinar, you should have a good understanding of regenerative VFD applications and how best to dissipate heat, but also see what kind of new opportunity exists for you to utilize this energy to advantage in your facility.

Taught by: Rick Archer, Rick is one of our Rumsey Drives Specialists with 14 years of experience in his current role. Prior to that, Rick spent 15+ years as an industrial electrician and then plant engineer at a regional manufacturer.
