K5100 – The latest, simple servo drive to migrate from Ultra3000 or solve the easier applications…
The long awaited K5100 is the latest servo drive to join the Kinetix portfolio and is available NOW!
This drive will be a drop in for simple machines that require a simple single axis, it has multi-mode I/O functionality for when you don’t have a motion capable controller available.
If you are using a motion capable Logix controller there is the benefit of CIP mode. This allows a versatile single style drive that can operate as a Standalone drive, or a networked axis via a controller. OEM’s who specialize in conveyors, indexers, case packers, stamping, and labelers should be interested in this drive’s capabilities when the multi axis K5500/K5700 are overkill. The “VFD-like” setup should make this a servo that anyone with VFD/AC drive experience should be able to powerup and run.
Configuration and programming can be accomplished a few ways, configuration starts with Connected Components Workbench/KNX5100C Software to define the mode and IO functions directly to the servo drive via USB.
Many predefined IO functions / modes available allow for implementation in various existing applications. With 13 inputs and 6 outputs on board this drive will be able to displace older antiquated drives of the past.
The KNX5100C Software and K5100 drive is highly configurable, and offers many advanced features such as gearing, camming and an onboard scope for motion trending data. The software does a good job of trimming down the options based on the selected mode, and also has wizards to assist you with parameter value settings.
If using Micro800 with CCW, or CompactLogix with Studio5000 (with AOP/AOI) to make this drive an easy one to work with. This drive is seen by Logix and configured as an Ethernet/IP node vs an axis (doesn’t add to the axis count), this helps when additional axes are required with an already axis maxed controller.
Phase 2 release of the 5100 is scheduled which will expand this offering (400V 50W to 15kW) in the near future.
